Michigan High School Athletic Association defies Trump executive order banning transgender athletes from participating in women's sport

MHSAA (Michigan High School Athletic Association) spokesman Geoff Kimmerly told news source Bridge Michigan on Thursday, February 6, 2025 that the private nonprofit that oversees Michigan interscholastic athletics doesn’t plan to change its policy allowing boys in girls sports, following the executive order issued by Donald Trump on Wednesday.

Trump’s executive order, which seeks to ban transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports, directs the federal government to “rescind all funds from educational programs that deprive women and girls of fair athletic opportunities, which results in the endangerment, humiliation, and silencing of women and girls and deprives them of privacy.”
