Teacher Killed in Animal Attack in Beaufort County North Carolina, But the Animal Type Is Not Initially Identified
Beaufort County Sheriff's Communications received a 911 call at 5:47 a.m. Friday February 15, 2019 reporting an animal attack on Indian Run Road in Pantego. Beaufort County EMS and Paramedics arrived to find 77 year-old Brenda Hamilton of Pantego suffering from severe injuries as a result of the attack. Paramedics transported Brenda Hamilton to Vidant Pitt Hospital.
Hamilton, a teacher at Pungo Christian Academy, died following the injuries, but the date of her death was not initially available.
DNA testing ruled out any wild animals involved in the attack, and are investigating whether any domestic dogs may have attacked Brenda Hamilton. The attack was apparently not witnessed.
The area where Hamilton was attacked is an isolated rural area about 40 miles east of Greenville, North Carolina.
